LZ North stores Landing Zone information, Landing Zone update suggestions and Landing Zone images, waypoints, track logs and bookmarks internally in the app on the device. Information is exported from the device only when the user want to share the information using standard share functionality or the function to synchronize new updated suggestions to the Landing Zone database.
Updated information for Landing Zones (LZs) is essential for helicopter crew using the LZs during Ambulance and Rescue missions. Crew members will update the LZ information by sharing corrections from their own device and synchronizing information to/from the LZ database. LZ North have the ability to download Landing Zone information and images for offline use. This is optional and initiated by the user. The information is stored locally until the user decides to synchronize the updates with the central database. The synchronization is initiated by the user, using a specific synchronization button.
The user can start and stop the recording of track logs. A track log is a collection of locations and time stamps. The track logs can be viewed on the map and edited. The track logs are stored on the device. The user can choose to send the track logs as a GPX file export using the standard iOS share functionality. Except for the user initiated export, the track information is not sent out of the device. This is optional and initiated by the user.
The user can store and edit waypoints inside LZ North. A waypoint is a location on a map, possibly including a name, a timestamp and an elevation. The waypoints are displayed on the map and in a list. The user can share waypoints using a GPX file export. Except for the user initiated GPX export, the waypoints are not sent out of the device.
The user can store and edit bookmarks inside LZ North. A bookmark is a location, a zoom-level, a map layer and a name. The bookmarks are only used and stored internally in the app. No bookmark information are sent out of the device.
LZ North uses map tiles from several providers. This information can be downloaded manually by the user and is stored inside the app for offline capability and caching.
When sharing/synchronizing LZ information the LZ North user name will be used as a quality indicator and will be automatically included. This is used by the LZ administrators in order to give them contact information when verifying changes to LZs.
LZ North uses Mapbox, FMDB and proj4. Mapbox has analytics support, but that is turned off for LZ North as LZ North does not use any of Mapbox services. FMDB and proj4 does not collect and/or distribute analytics or any other kinds of data.
All of the data are stored inside the app on the device. The user can delete the app at any time to delete all of the app data. The user can also delete parts of the data within the app without completely deleting the app.
